Return to LIVE!
After two years of UNO Online, UNO Fest returns LIVE for its 25th anniversary in Spring 2022. OUTstages was our last live, full-capacity festival in February 2020 and our 2022 OUTstages returns with queer artists from across the country in February. The Victoria Fringe will return next summer, welcoming back (we hope!) local and national artists for 12 days of adventurous live theatre. The Intrepid Presents Series kicks off in January with a Dora Award winning production, more details soon, we promise! Make a meaningful donation to help us 'Return to LiVE!' in the 2022 Season. Support new & local art!
During the last year, when our doors have been closed to audiences and the theatres were dark, we created residency programs to foster new work and invest in local artists. We supported artists with studio time to create, technical equipment to test drive their ideas, mentorship and guidance in their process, and artist fees. This is crucial in ensuring that there is thrilling and engaging work being created, artists are being mentored in their craft, and the Victoria theatre scene thrives as we return to the stage. You may even see the fruit of these residencies in future festivals! * Three emerging IBPOC artists were mentored in their creation of new, short works in the conVERGE Residency Program *Two queer artists are creating presentation ready new multidisciplinary shows in the OUTstages Residency Program * Two Indigenous Artists spent the year creating, rehearsing and learning, and launched their new shows at the 2021 Victoria Fringe as part of the Fringe Indigenous Artist Program * We hosted two technical residencies at The Metro Studio, one for a dance film and one for a new movement and music hybrid piece If you believe in the transformative possibilities of live theatre, in the power of art to inspire conversation, and in what is possible when we invest in boundary-pushing performance, make a donation to Intrepid Theatre and help us support new & local art!
