Welcome to the Fifth Annual Heart Homes Online Auction in support of the Heart Transplant Home Society.
Where you live can have a huge impact on the access, quality, and outcomes of health care.
In British Columbia, there is one centre for heart transplant in the province: St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver. If you live outside the Lower Mainland, you can have extensive travel and accommodation costs for appointments both pre- and post-transplant, as well as for the post-surgical recovery period immediately following your heart transplant surgery. If you cannot find accommodation in the Vancouver area, you may not be eligible for your transplant, as you must stay within the area for three months after transplant for critical follow-up appointments, tests, and procedures.
At the HTHS, our mission is to eliminate barriers and financial stressors associated with securing local accommodation for heart transplant patients from outside the Vancouver area.
We have been operating two furnished apartments (Heart Homes) within walking distance to St. Paul’s Hospital for out-of-town heart transplant patients, as well as left ventricular assist device (LVAD) recipients, and their caregivers for over 22 years. The funds to maintain our apartments come directly from donations and from our annual fundraising events and appeals.
“The only reason we were able to support [our dad] was because of…the Heart Home. We would never have been able to stay downtown
Vancouver close to the hospital or anywhere for that matter.” --Family caregiver of heart transplant recipient
Over 95 cents of every dollar you give, via donation or auction bid, goes to the maintenance of our Homes and the support of the patients and their caregivers. For more information on the HTHS, please go to www.hearttransplanthomes.com
While you're here, please check out the amazing range of auction items so kindly and generously donated by out donors. Bid from ANYWHERE in British Columbia, from ANY of our communities, BUT make sure you watch for details on mailing, shipping, delivery, and pick-up. (Some items are Pick Up Only.)
(Also, new items are being added all the time leading up to the auction open date, so check
Bid high and bid often, make a cash donation, and above all, ENJOY!

Mark Hobson Gallery
Donation: Limited Edition Giclée Print on Canvas - Small Many images to choose from. Value $500* *Value may be used towards higher priced items. markhobson.com Mark’s Bio: Mark has lived and painted in Tofino, B.C. since 1984. He was drawn to the outer coast community by the dramatic beauty and variety of the landscape. He is best known for his use of light in his portrayals of the coast and especially for his accurate underwater scenes. To find uninterrupted time to paint Mark travels north from Tofino into the heart of Clayoquot Sound. His floating studio is surrounded by wilderness, offering endless inspiration and the solitude to be creative. What is a Giclée? Giclée reproductions are used to produce museum-quality, fine art reproductions. In the art world, it is generally regarded as the highest quality reproduction available. The word giclée is French for “to spray on” or “to spray ink” and it is pronounced “gee-clay”. The giclée process uses incredibly accurate computer-controlled jets to apply ink to watercolour paper, canvas or etching paper. These unique jets are able to vary the width of the ink stream to as small as 1/100th the width of a human hair. Giclées have a higher resolution than offset lithographs and the dynamic colour range is greater than that of serigraphs. Valued at $500 Current bid: $300 Donated By Mark Hobson Gallery (Coastline Art Inc)
