	John M. Horton - A private studio experience John is not only a 45-year recipient of the Canadian Coast Guard volunteer award, doing safety and preventative patrols on the Delta Lifeboat with our commercial and indigenous fishery, but is a world renowned marine artist. Last year the Maritime Museum of BC here in Victoria supported John during his 90th year by exhibiting a major showing of his work and so we wish to pay them back by offering this special activity on which you can bid! Item: A day with John in his studio in Tsawwassen (10 minutes from the ferry terminal) to see how he develops and creates his masterpieces. If you wish we will pick you up from the Tsawwassen ferry terminal so you do not have to bring your car, take you to the studio where you will see a work in progress and also view a small gallery of his completed works. The studio where he paints holds a complete wall of marine books and is decorated with ship models and other marine items. John M. Horton - A private studio experience

John is not only a 45-year recipient of the Canadian Coast Guard volunteer award, doing safety and preventative patrols on the Delta Lifeboat with our commercial and indigenous fishery, but is a world renowned marine artist.

Last year the Maritime Museum of BC here in Victoria supported John during his 90th year by exhibiting a major showing of his work and so we wish to pay them back by offering this special activity on which you can bid!

Item: A day with John in his studio in Tsawwassen (10 minutes from the ferry terminal) to see how he develops and creates his masterpieces. If you wish we will pick you up from the Tsawwassen ferry terminal so you do not have to bring your car, take you to the studio where you will see a work in progress and also view a small gallery of his completed works. The studio where he paints holds a complete wall of marine books and is decorated with ship models and other marine items.

We will serve you lunch and take you for a little tour around the neighbourhood before returning you to the ferry terminal.

"I Name This Place Desolation Sound" by renowned Canadian marine artist John M. Horton, O.B.C. C.S.M.A.

Item: A limited edition paper reproduction. Size 20"x30".

This work depicts an episode in the three summers that Captain Vancouver charted the Washington, British Columbia and Alaska coasts, during 1792, 1793 and 1794, and is one of over 50 that John has painted.

Captain Vancouver arrived in Desolation Sound on the evening of the 25th of June. At daybreak they found themselves “about one half mile from the shores of a high rocky island surrounded by a detached and broken country whose general appearance was very inhospitable. Stupendous rocky mountains rise almost perpendicular from the sea.”
